“Anyone throwing tonight?” asks real student, not Evanston police officer

In a recent post to the Northwestern Fizz page, an anonymous student—assuredly not an Evanston police officer—asked Saturday if any fraternity houses were hosting a party.

“Heyo fellow Wildcats!” the message began with the tone of a typical freshman college student, “Just a cool kid here looking for a good time at one of our fine fraternity houses. Anyone throwing tonight? Preferably with much alcohol and other illicit substances. Let me know whenever is most convenient!”

Some students are suspicious of these messages, following last week’s joint effort of seventeen cop cars, two helicopters, four police dogs, and a bear on horseback to shut down a Sigma Mu Delta tailgate after a resident submitted a noise complaint. Evanston Police Department chief Schenita Stewart, however, assured Flipside that the EPD does not probe for information on sites meant for students. The two winks left after this statement appear unrelated to the message.

As is known nationwide, Northwestern is famous for its lively and off-the-rails party scene. In the 2027 U.S. News ranking, Northwestern reclaimed its first-place spot as the largest party school in the nation, closely edging out Brigham Young University.

The post received seven downvotes, and one “bruh” reply.
